Confession time, I have not been out in quite a bit or like the teenagers will say in a hot minute. But spending the night at Churchill Upmarket Bar is just what the Doctor ordered. Life has been crazy but that is not why were are here. I would like to share my experience on my evening out.
About Churchill Upmarket Bar
The bar was created by Sergio Zurini, Carlo Trenti and Maurizio Di Pietroto and it caters for the up-market and established local and international party crowd, it provides luxurious yet entertaining experience for clientele, combining a relaxed day-time atmosphere with an exciting night-time vibe.
Churchill Upmarket Bar is suited at Melrose Arch and has a quintessential British elegance. The decor in the Bar is brown leather Chesterfield with Union Jack coach cushions. Leather abounds and there are books all over, whether they’re acting as table legs or elevating lamps off the tabletops. This decor remind me of old-style English gentleman’s club.
Night Out Upmarket Bar
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the Host on a red carpet. I was not sure if were at the right place but when I gave the host my name low and behold there was my name on the guest list. I instantly felt like a VIP, we were escorted inside where our reserved table was waiting for us ready with a bottle of MCC. Sudenly I was hesitant I am not use to drinking on a school night but I was here to embrace and have a wonderful evening. The table that we were seated at was beautiful elegant and comfortable with privacy.
Our server opened a chilled bottle of Graham Beck Brut MCC and poured us each a glass. He was very professional and he kept our glasses filled.
MCC (Methode Cap Classique is the South African version of champagne. MCC is made using the original, bottle fermented process used by the French. It cannot be called Champage as the South African version do not use the correct grapes. Champagne can only be made using grapes grown in Champagne, a north-eastern province in France.
The Graham Beck Brut we were serve is a tiny bit on the dry side for me as I prefer semi sweet rose. However I eventually enjoyed the Brut, I had three glasses of the Grahm Beck. I then decided to switch over to water and some soft drinks. The Churchill has a wide selection of drinks which include wine, beer and droughts but I the range of Whisky, Bourbon, Gin, Champagne, Cognac, Vodka, Rum and Tequila is very appealing. But my favourite is definately the amazing sounding cocktails. You can view the drinks menu here.
We ordered the William’s Selection platter which included Grilled Beef Short Rib, Grilled Sausage, Fish Cakes, Arancini Rice Balls and a selection of sauces. I suprised myself with this choice as I do not like fish. The food was well prepared and seasoned perfectly. It was absolutely delicious and low and behold the Fish Cakes were definately my favioute, I was tiny bit shocked, but that is how fish should taste. You can view the food menu over here.
Churhills have a cigar menu and it is so fitting and perfect with the ambiance of the upmarket bar? I have never smoked but I have to say there is some mystic surrounding a cigars and I love the smell of cigars? I don’t smoke so I didn’t sample any of these but you can take a look at the cigar menu over here.
