Hello Sassy Ladies!
Greeting in true swamp queen style, today I will be reviewing Tarte The Swamp Queen palette that was released in collaboration with Bunny Meyer. Bunny has a YouTube channel “Grav3yard Girl” with 7.9 million followers. I love watching her videos, the 1st ever video I watched was a Swamp Mail un-boxing and I fell in love with her personality and energy; she is very eccentric and has a love for weird vintage items. I love watching her series “Does this thing really Work?”
In December Tarte Cosmetics were having a 30% sale and my friend Nisa from BelleBushh asked if I would like to order the palette as she is placing an order. The Swamp Queen palette has been on my wish list since it launched June 2016. Sadly our parcel went missing, they refunded our money and Nisa asked if I would like to re-order. I opted not to. Well imagine my surprise when Nisa decided to absolutely spoil me for my birthday and include the palette in my gift.
So why did it take me this long to blog about it? Well I have this little obsession; I cannot use the palette until I have taken photos and it was worth the wait. I am completely obsessed with this palette especially the colour “Sassy bun”.
The packaging has a vintage feel. When you open the palette you get a sweet smell of chocolate which is similar to the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. The palette is made of cardboard but is very sturdy and feels luxurious. It has a wood grain feel finish with gold embossed lettering “Grav3yardgirl Swamp Queen”
There is an alligator with wings on the front, and it reminds me so much of the way she ends her videos
“If you not already and would like to be hit that button down below,
subscribe become a member of the swamp family and give an alligator its wings”
The inside of the palette is metallic gold and it continues the luxurious feel. It has a large mirror with the quote:
“Believe in yourself. Love yourself. Embrace your individuality”
Tarte – Swamp Queen Shades
The palette contains 9 eye shadow shades, a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter. The colour range in this palette is perfect for my skin tone, I was immediately drawn to the as it has quite a few shimmer shades. The eye shadows are pigmented and apply beautifully and blend well. I only struggle a little with one of the shades “Mancat”. The matte shades are not chalky where the metallic shades are striking and very opaque. The shade names are very cute and unique to Bunny. The formula of the shades reminds me of the Lorac palette which has a little bit of powder kick up when you use them.
They have the coolest shades names which will make more sense if you watch her channel. i.e. she call her husband “Dogman”.
Gator Wings – Light, pearly champagne. The highlighter is extremely pigmented especially on my skin tone
Does This Thing Really Work? – Medium pink with a coral undertone. The colour is the perfect blush colour and I think it gives me a nice glow on my skin. It has a slight golden shimmer
Sweet Tea- Medium – Warm bronze with slight golden shimmer. You can see the shimmer in the palette but I can’t see it when I apply it
#SFS – Metallic light iridescent pink
Natural Peaches – Matte shade with a light peachy-brown
Dogman – Matte, medium-dark warm brown with a hint of rustic orange
Big Baby – Off-white Matte that I use to set my eye shadow base
Sassy Bun – Metallic, coppery medium bronze, this is my favourite colour. It is very pigmented and silky
Sippy Sippy – Matte dark brown base with some micro golden glitter
Haunting – Light mauve matte
Uncommon – Purple Taupe Metallic
Mancat – A dark plum matte
