On the 26 November 2015 I was invited to the launch of Candi by Candi&Co. This is a new range of hair extensions.
This new extension ranges from wefts, lace-wigs, closures and clip-on ponies and fringes. Candi by Candi&Co was launched with a candy-themed fashion show produced by award winning designer and producer Craig Jacobs. release:
‘Candi by Candi&Co’ was developed in conjunction with some of the leading global hair suppliers following on from research that involved three thousand Candi & Co loyalty members. Candi & Co Managing Director, Candice Thurston said that they literally scoured the globe to find the best quality hair, and the most reliable, ethical suppliers, they looked at products from India, China and South East Asia. They finally found quality that their customers will be delighted with and they believe it is a first for South African.
South African ethnic hair market is largely unregulated, and unscrupulous dealers often sell poor quality hair to consumers who think they are buying high-quality, 100% percent, untreated human hair.
The ‘Candi by Candi&Co’ hair extension range has been developed for the woman who wants the best hair extension range possible at affordable prices.
‘Candi by Candi&Co’ uses a grading system that will enable customers to easily recognise, understand and choose the best quality of hair they can purchase. The grading system is aimed at educating consumers to enable them to make an informed hair purchase decision.
There are four different grades of hair:
Remy: Here, cuticles run in the same direction, can be coloured and lasts longer.
Processed: Processed hair is 100% human hair that has been silicone dipped to flatten cuticles, which are not running in the same direction. This hair has a shorter life-span and generally cannot be coloured.
Mix: This is a mix of human hair and synthetic, which is often sold as one hundred percent human hair.
Synthetic: This is made from high quality synthetic fibers and generally cannot be heated.
Each of the grades come in a variety of qualities and is dependent on the processing it has undergone.
‘Candi by Candi&Co’ contains NO synthetic fibres, making it ideal for re-styling, and re-purposing. The hair also comes in re-usable packaging with a very useful guide to the grading system.
“Hair is a big purchase for anyone, and our customers want to be able to change their hair and their hairstyles very often. All the hair in the new range in ideally suited to be re-used if instructions are carefully followed. You can style it, curl it and even dye it and if you buy ‘Candi by Candi&Co’ hair, the installation is free, so you can use that saving to buy the best quality hair you can afford.” Says Candice Thurston.
The ranges are:
Gold: Remy and Virgin Hair
Orange: Remy and lightly coloured
Purple: Remy and lightly steamed
Pink: 100% Human Hair that’s been processed through silicone dipping
The hair is exclusively available from the Gauteng-based Candi & Co salons. An additional eight stores are planned for 2016.
